Foundation Response to community emergencies

In the event of a community emergency causing mandatory evacuations within El Dorado County, the El Dorado Community Foundation will open applications for possible assistance within 24-72 hours of the onset of mandatory evacuations. Assistance will only be available for individuals and families under mandatory evacuation orders and the application will close immediately upon mandatory evacuation orders being lifted.

Emergency assistance is only for residents of El Dorado County whose primary residence is under mandatory evacuation at the time the application is submitted. We have made efforts to ensure the application process is as simple as possible, however there are a couple things that you will need to do to apply for assistance in the event that you find yourself within a mandatory evacuation zone during an emergency. Before you do anything else, make sure that you and your family are safely evacuated in accordance with El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department evacuation orders. Once you are safe and ready to apply for assistance, follow the instructions below and on the application itself.

  1. You will be required to create a Smarter Select account (tutorial)
  2. You will need to upload an image of your Drivers License or CA ID Card during the application process (tutorial)
  3. Make sure that you submit your application after it is completed by clicking the submit button at the bottom (you will receive an email stating that your application has been successfully submitted)
