When the El Dorado Community Foundation helps a family in need through the Coronavirus Relief Fund, be it for car repair, bill payment, assistance with food or other essentials, or any other form of financial assistance, we never ask for anything in return. We do it because it is right, because it is our mission, and because it is our calling. So when one of those families reached out to us after receiving assistance and asked us if they could make a donation of their own, to help keep us safe, we were deeply moved.
This family, struggling to get by in this unprecedented time, wanted to donate hand made face masks for the staff of the El Dorado Community Foundation to wear, helping to protect us and keep us safe from contracting COVID-19. We are constantly amazed by the generosity of this community, how we come together in times of crisis, and the genuine compassion we see all around us in the best of times and in the worst of times.
The Foundation staff will wear these masks with love in our hearts and pride for what we see all around us, namely the best community any of us could ask to be a part of. We will treasure these masks forever. Yes, we cried.
