This week, South Tahoe High School and El Dorado High School had their scholarship nights where 2024 graduating seniors from each school were awarded scholarships. Congratulations to these very deserving seniors and to all 2024 graduating seniors!![]()

This year, El Dorado Community Foundation scholarship donors are awarding 103 scholarships for a total of $329,500 to 2024 graduating seniors from all throughout the county for the pursuit of their higher education!
The Foundation was honored to participate in Fostering Success and Significance’s inaugural Leadership Connection event last night. Fostering Success and Significance (FSS) empowers, encourages, and equips former foster youth as they navigate their college years, providing mentor support, student resources, educational growth and FSS alumni program. Our Executive Director, Amy Pooley, alongside Jodi Mottashed, Co-Founder and Director of Aspire Kids; and Tiffany Loeffler, Founder and Director of The Alliance, served as nonprofit industry panelists offering guidance and feedback on many aspects of leadership including leading in a challenging environment, work-life balance, standing out in an interview, and personal growth development. ![]()

Ponderosa High School is excited to host the 9th Annual Gold Country Jazz Festival on Saturday, April 20th. El Dorado County’s own Camerado Springs Middle School & Pleasant Grove Middle School, Union Mine High School, and Ponderosa High School will be performing in addition to 11 schools from the Sacramento region. Doors open to the public at 7:30AM and goes until the last note played at ~4:30PM. Entry can be purchased in advance at www.goldcountryjazzfest.org or day of at the door.

Yesterday marked the Drug Store Project’s 21st annual event. The The Drug Store Project, a fund here at the El Dorado Community Foundation provides an anti-drug/anti-destructive behavior event. This event involves 45+ agencies-service clubs and 200+ volunteers. These combined efforts have provided reality-based scenarios for all South Lake Tahoe area sixth-grade youth annually since 2003. Thank you for your great work and dedication to helping keep our kids safe, informed, and reflective on the impact of their choices.

It’s CASA El Dorado Kids Box Lunch Time! ![]()
Child Advocates of El Dorado County’s 28th Annual Box Lunch fundraiser takes place April 18th. This long-standing community event helps support CASA’s advocacy services for the abused, neglected and at-risk youth in El Dorado County. ![]()

CASA and community volunteers will make and deliver over 3,000 lunches to schools, businesses and individuals throughout El Dorado County. Lunch orders must be submitted by March 29th. Tahoe Arts Project presents Alias Brass, a group of five exceptional artists from across the country, kicking off the second half of TAP's 37th season with performances from February 5th to 9th, 2024. The group's repertoire includes both original compositions and classics, as well as concepts that blend virtuosity with entertainment. During the week, they will perform assembly-style shows in our local schools, culminating in a public performance on Friday, February 9th at 6Lake Tahoe Community Collegety College. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, and tickets can be purchased at the door, which opens at 6 pm. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to see Alias Brass in action! The El Dorado Opportunity Knocks Continuum of Care (CoC), in partnership with El Dorado County Dept. Of Health and Human Services, is planning the 2024 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count for Thursday, January 25th and they need your help! The PIT is a Federally required, nation-wide count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness on a single night during the last ten days in January. Women's Fund El Dorado held its annual membership event last week celebrating the members and the contributions made to the community. This year, the theme was “Ripples to Waves: Turning small ripples of giving into large waves of positive impact in our western El Dorado County community.”![]()

The El Dorado Community Foundation is pleased to announce Amy Pooley as the selection for the incoming Executive Director for the El Dorado Community Foundation.![]()
Currently serving as the Executive Director for CASA El Dorado, she will join the Foundation with a proven track record of championing community needs, developing relationships, and making positive impacts in our region.![]()
“Amy’s leadership over these past two years has been essential to our flourishing organization. CASA El Dorado is stronger than ever, and we are grateful for her service here. We are excited to see what she continues to do at the El Dorado Community Foundation,” noted CASA El Dorado Board President, Steven Schwarzbach. ![]()
Pooley succeeds Bill Roby, who after 17 years of dedicated service to the Foundation, announced his retirement earlier this year. ![]()
“A past employee of the Foundation, Amy has also served as the coordinator for the Women’s Fund El Dorado, and as the current director of CASA El Dorado. I am well acquainted with Amy’s abilities and work ethic,” shared Roby. “It is with full knowledge of her capacity and talent that makes this transition positive for the Foundation, our donors, our nonprofits, and for our community.” ![]()
Pooley’s vision for the Foundation includes elevating philanthropy, supporting nonprofits, and helping to ensure a vibrant future for El Dorado County. ![]()
“El Dorado County is my home - I grew up here and chose to raise my children here,” said Pooley. “I am passionate about ensuring our continued greatness for the future. My drive behind every professional career choice and every volunteer service hour is my dedication to serving this passion. I look forward to elevating our community through philanthropy, community leadership, and compassion.”![]()
“The Foundation Board of Directors joins me in praising our selection of Amy Pooley as our next executive director,” noted El Dorado Community Foundation Board President, Katy Peek. “Amy has already proven herself as a strong leader, an inspiring individual and we are confident that the Foundation’s future is in good hands.”![]()
