With many school districts going partially or fully online this Fall, new challenges are arising all the time. One of those challenges is how to make education interesting and engaging through a digital medium. In the past, field trips were utilized to bring some entertaining and hands on learning to students. Of course, at the present time, field trips are out of the question. So how can this challenge be overcome?
One local historical landmark has an answer to help bring an experience of local history to classrooms everywhere. Gold Bug Park has found a way to bring the field trip to the digital classroom through a series of educational videos showcasing both Gold Bug’s famous mine and the unique history of El Dorado County’s part in the California Gold Rush.
These educational videos, funded by the El Dorado Community Foundation, are available to download from Gold Bug Park’s website here. They can be downloaded for free by educators all across the country giving students everywhere the educational benefits, and even some of the fun & entertainment of a field trip, all from the safety of their home.
We are in challenging times and that means we need creative solutions to help keep life on track. The education of our youth is something that we cannot compromise, but as a community we will find ways to overcome even the most daunting of obstacles.
